I still have insisted on these adjectives we do not pronounce the same when the noun is feminine.
Children have perfectly understood.

They can say: un livre vert, gris, blanc, violet and une souris verte, grise, blanche, violette: BRAVO!
They ask politly: je voudrais une ardoise violette or un mouchoir blanc: Great!!!

We revised alphabet by spelling and writing words they know: need more practice...

Spelling test for next Monday: moi, j'ai sept ans et toi, tu as six ans.
